BREAKOUTS, ACNE, BLACKHEAD!! WHAT WORK BEST?? SALYCYLIC ACID OR BENZOYL PEROXIDE??

WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMATIC SKIN, RIGHT??? To those who doesnt, well, Congratulation!! You are bless by heaven. Most problematic skin starts when we have imbalance hormone during our teens and most of us didnt take much action to heal it. Just brought random acne cream/gel at the drug store, applied it and pray the acne be gone tomorrow, right?? Cause I did.. HAHA. And now, after 10 years I am still struggling to reduce the scars, unbalance skin tone, breakouts, blemishes and acne as well. I admit, it was frustrating.

Where are the most acne breakouts?

My cheeks area especially the sides (num 9 and 10). My forehead, near my hair. Recently now I have breakouts on my cheeks but near to my chin. My friends said because of toxins. Well~

In this entry I'm going to share what products you should pick, what the criteria/ingredients should you used when you have breakouts,  irritates skin and so on.  If you sport for home remedies you can search the labels and see the healthy home made :)

HOW BREAKOUT HAPPENED??

We have 7 layers of skin. In between those layer there have one with hair follicle like in the picture. If you are exposed to polluted air or you didnt take care of your hygiene you can have those bumpiest. The bumpiest made of bacteria, oil, sebum which mix up together inside the skin. The clogged pores and toxins in our blood caused the inflammation.

The most famous chemicals that should be in in your make up kit to handle breakouts are products; gel/cream made of SALICYLIC ACID (SA) and BENZOYL PEROXIDE (BP). Have you ever heard of these two babies?? no?? well.. now you do. 

GET TO KNOW THEM ..

SALICYLIC ACID or SA are mostly used to exfoliating the skin whereas BENZOYL PEROXIDE or BP is more to anti-bacteria treatment. 

The different is that BP is MUCH STRONGER then SA. SA is much milder to our skin and perfect to sensitive skin. BP is not for fighting blackheads but more to killing the bacteria that can cause pimples.

SA works best for oily skin. It penetrates the pores, exfoliate from the inside thus break out the blackheads. However it doest has the anti-bacteria properties that BP has.

SALICYLIC ACID..WHO SHOULD USE

-people with oily, sensitive skin.

-people trying to get rid of blackhead

-people with mild acne problem

As I mention earlier, when applying SA it unclog the pores. However although it unclog pores we still have those bacteria, excess oils. It does not help in reducing the bacteria. SO I suggest you combine with other products which have anti-bacteria properties such as BP.

My review - It works great on my skin. I have been using it since 2010 until now 25/10/2013 and probably forever, if I still think it works :) It soothes and reduce pimples and blackheads, I wear it at night before I go to bed. It reduces the redness/inflammation cause by the pimps.  It is easy to apply and smooth out on my pimples and does not leave a sticky or greasy feeling. The smell of tea tree is the best!

-people with less oily skin

TIPS on using BP is you have to applied it moderately on your skin. CHOOSE THE ONE WITH THE LOWEST PERCENTAGE FIRST! you dont want to tear your skin. Like I stressed before, BP is harsh on the skin. Find the products that offer as low as 2.5% to 4% BP. I think 5% should be enough, and 10% is definitely too harsh. If you use the 10% amount your skin feel irritates causing redness. Worst I once used OXY 10% and my skin have severe peeling and it was disastrous to wait it to heal. Just moderate percentage is enough!

Apply moisturizer to soothes your skin preferably an oil-free you dont want to clog your pores. Because BP leaves your skin dry.

PRODUCTS THAT ARE BASED ON BP

Consist of Benzoyl Peroxide 5-10% w/w, Methylparaben 0.015% w/w, Propylparaben 0.05% w/w.

The product label strictly said:

Those with known sensitivity to Benzoyl Peroxide or especially sensitive skin should not use this medication. To test for sensitivity, apply to a small affected area once a day for two days. Follow label instructions and continue if no discomfort occurs. If during treatment, irritation , redness, burning, itching or excessive drying or peeling occur, reduce dosage of frequency to use. Discontinue if irritation is severe and, if it persists consult a doctor. Keep away from eyes, lips and mouth. Keep this and all medicines out of reach of children.

My review- yes, my skin feels dry at first then it turn red with peeling. However it is effective in reducing pimps. HAHA. :')

Other suggested products is tea tree (T3) oils. 

Mycin Gel contains Clindamycin phosphate as active ingredient.It is for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris. It should be applied a thin film to the affected area after washing. Twice daily, especially before sleep.

My review- I have not use it yet. Since Nuteen and Oxy did great job for me. I suggest to those you want more milder gel that wont irritates skin you can try this.

Here's the another one, choose products which have Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) which mostly derived from fruits. AHAs works as exfoliate too. The different is it is mostly used for BLACKHEAD. AHA will clear the dead skin and expose the blackhead. AND PLS DO NOT USE YOUR FINGER DARLINGS.. buy a blackhead remover. Steam your face first ok. I suggest you use AHA every 3 days or so.

For me SA in the morning, BP at night :) Because bacteria like us have develops resistance against clindamycin/SA therefore dermatologists recommend solution to prevent it:

MIX SA AND BP TOGETHER. ALTERNATE USE I MEAN
